6 Tips to Quickly Build a Client Base

Whether you are just started out or you have been in business for years, here are a few of my top tips for building a client base quickly.

Tip 1:  Create an elevator speech.

Come up with a quick, 30 second comercial that describes who you are and what you do.  Keep it relevant to your business, but don’t forget to make it interesting and memorable.  The next time someone asks “what do you do?” you will have a quick elevator speech that not only explains what you do, but also markets your brand at the same time.

Here is a quick example  “I love what I do! I help individuals build their business by teaching them how they can help their clients take the ‘ if ‘ out of life, all the while building a lasting relationship.

I also use social media to connect with people from all over and help them build a growing client base.”

Tip 2: Talk to 5 people a day!

Now that you have an elevator speech, use it! Make a point to talk to at least 5 people a day about what you do. This can be everyone from friends to a cold call, just try and get in the habit of introducing yourself and promoting your brand each and everyday.

Tip 3: Get out from behind your computer.

Talking to five people a day about your business is great, but only one of those can be an electronic or a phone conversation! You need to do your research and find out where your ideal clients are!   Golf courses, book clubs, local fundraisers and committees are a great place to not only meet new clients, but make good friends as well.

Tip 4: Social Media sharing will help your business grow.

When first starting out on social media, most of the people following you will be friends and family.  Build your social media following by commenting on other people’s posts and sharing other’s information. Follow and join online groups and forums that relate to your business and offer advice and your input. Sharing your knowledge on social media will not only help attract new clients, but also establish you as an authority in your field.  Spend six minutes every day commenting on other people’s social media posts.

Tip 5:  Follow up is where connections turn into clients.

Failure to follow up is one of the most common mistakes that entrepreneurs make.  So many lost opportunities are passed by simply because of a failure to follow up with leads from networking events, conferences, social media, email, voicemail, referrals, and more. If you really want to build your client base quickly, you need to follow up with every lead.

Tip 6: Offer free advice or products to pull them in.

What will make you different from everyone else? You can allow your clients to sample you before they buy! By offering some free advice, printables or small products, you are establishing a solid connection and building trust with your potential clients.   It is this trust and connection that will not only make you stand out from the crowd, but build a strong and long lasting client relationship.
